can you actually put a 5090 in a shoebox in 2026?

my meshify 3 has been great but the footprint is starting to annoy me. it just eats desk space and i keep looking at these tiny builds people post and wanting that instead.

what i can't tell is whether a 5090 in something genuinely small is a real build now or just a compromise pile where you fight clearance and thermals the whole time. anyone actually running a flagship card in a shoebox and happy with it, or does it fall apart once you spec it out

Realistic now if you pick the case right. The Terra and NR200P Max both swallow a full-length card, the real catch is the AIB 5090s that run long, so a Founders-size card is the safe pick. Treat 850W SFX as the floor. Mine runs hotter than the mid-tower ever did and the fans ramp under load, but I'd not go back

the sff tax is real though. you pay more for the small psu, the small aio, the case itself, and every part choice narrows until you buy whatever fits. same fps, more money.
