Do i actually need to replace my 850W for an RTX 5080?

ok i pulled the trigger, 5080 is ordered now that street prices finally settled to something sane. i'm coming off an RX 9060 XT so this is a big jump. my RM850e has been in here since pretty much the start of this build. the guides all disagree, half say 850 is the floor and half say just retire anything under 1000W. so while i've got the side panel off, do i swap the unit out too or am i keeping a perfectly good PSU and overthinking it again? i know i'm overthinking it.

An RM850e in good shape already sits inside Nvidia's 850 to 1000W band, so retiring it because the GPU changed makes no sense. ATX 3.1 handles the transient spikes. Just confirm whether yours takes a native 12V-2x6 cable or needs the adapter. Going bigger only buys headroom you won't use

my MAG A850GL has run a 4070 Super for ages without a single hiccup. 850 is plenty at this tier, people just love talking themselves into more watts.
