Can i keep my old modular cables when i swap in a new PSU?

Snagged a Montech Century II 850W on a really good discount to replace an old unit that is finally on its way out. Here is my situation: my current PSU's modular cables are routed perfectly behind the motherboard tray and the connectors on the Montech look identical to the old ones. Can I just unplug the PSU end from the dying unit, plug those same cables into the Montech, and leave all my routing alone? Redoing the cable management is genuinely the part I dread most.

Hard no. Modular cables are keyed to the PSU model, not the connector shape. The pinout is proprietary, so a pin carrying 12V on one unit can be 5V or ground on another. People have shorted boards and started fires this way. A few same-brand families like some Seasonic lines are the documented exception, not a rule. Use the cables that shipped with the Montech and redo your routing.

i bag and label every set of cables with the unit they came from, exactly for this. boring habit, never had a single fire.
