Do I buy a 2TB NVMe now or keep waiting for prices to fall?

Question

Got my NV3 1TB back in september and it was fine until it wasn't. Library keeps spilling over and I am uninstalling games just to make room.

So I should just grab a 2TB. Except every time I go to buy one the price has climbed again. I've had a cart sitting open for weeks. I saw that 2TB drives roughly doubled since late last year and it kind of froze me.

Am I overthinking this. Are people buying anyway, or is everyone holding out for things to settle? I honestly cant tell if waiting is smart or if I am just stalling.

Buy the 2TB you need, skip the stockpiling. Extra drives you won't touch for two years is betting against yourself. Contract NAND rose 55 to 60 percent quarter over quarter in Q1, and analysts don't see relief before late 2027, maybe 2028. Waiting that out is years, not months. Any single forecast can be wrong, but nothing points to a near term drop

Grabbed my 2TB in early 2025 and I have never been happier about buying something before I actually needed it.

Agreed on buying the drive you actually need, but slow down before loading up on spares. Some outlets are speculating Black Friday could be the best window, no idea if that holds through the shortage.
